Lots of pretty plants in the park

IMG_3600
A really old tree with some vines around it

IMG_3601

IMG_3602
Lots of people walking in the park

IMG_3606
Nice shaded walkways

IMG_3612
Competition amongst the plants...

IMG_3616
A big formal refreshment stand, there were also HUNDREDS of little stands with coconut water around the park

IMG_3617
How DO trees grow in that direction? Maybe too many kids sit on them?

IMG_3619
Frightening birds roost in the middle of the pond in the park

IMG_3624
Swans

IMG_3627
The pond and bridge

IMG_3631
Blue color-shifted plant

IMG_3635
and purple...

IMG_3641
More photos of people!

IMG_3644
I don't know if this is part of the (palm?) tree or some invasive species...

IMG_3648
Tough to keep roads flat when trees grow so fast!

IMG_3658

IMG_3670

IMG_3671
Birds preying on a defenseless fish!

IMG_3672
Remains of coconuts used to make coconut water (the markup from where they're farmed to the park is really steep...but still not too expensive overall)

IMG_3675
There's an afrobrasil museum - neat logo with Brazil and Africa...

IMG_3679
There's Christmas even where there's no natural Christmas trees!

IMG_3688
A nice modern building...so neat

IMG_3695
Tons of ads for Columbia tourism..."Columbia, the only risk is wanting to stay" not sure if that's before or after you're kidnapped...

IMG_3697
The building where GE Brazil is headquartered

IMG_3698
The trains run along the road near a big river/ditch...

IMG_3699
I guess it's clear where to go when you have digestive problems...

IMG_3705
Not sure who really wants to take this SHAME taxi at our hotel...but I guess if it's the last taxi available...

IMG_3706
I had lunch with an old friend from Creighton, Lila, who lives in Brazil and we tried to go to the SP Jockey Club but the restaurant(s) there were closed...here are some photos though

IMG_3724
We just went to the El Dorado Shopping mall near the office and I took our photo in front of a very small and rectangular ice skating rink

IMG_3757
This Nissan (I think) truck was 100% Brazil...not sure if that means just assembled there or every part came from there but hey - nice marketing

IMG_3758
More nice flowers on the way back to the airport

IMG_3761
Nisha reads a magazine

IMG_3763
The area of SP we stayed in was like Beverly Hills in LA, this area on the way through (near Luz station I think) was not as nice...LOTS of graffiti and very tall/blocky housing units, lots of uniform shops (for maids especially...) but I suppose it's not all that different from large US cities

IMG_3765
This is a futbol (soccer) stadium I think, amazing what you can build with concrete, although it doesn't always look logical...

IMG_3768
A truck we passed on the way back to the airport
